Ibuka USA donates life-saving medical equipment to genocide widows through AVEGA

Ibuka USA Donates $34,962 to AVEGA Agahozo for Critical Medical Equipment to Support Genocide Survivors

We are committed to supporting survivors of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi by providing not only emotional and social support but also tangible resources that improve their quality of life. One of our recent initiatives exemplifies this commitment: a significant donation of $34,962 to AVEGA Agahozo, a Rwandan organization founded by widows of the genocide. AVEGA Agahozo is dedicated to providing healthcare, housing, and other essential services to genocide survivors, with a particular focus on women, the elderly, and those suffering from physical and emotional trauma.

This donation, made in response to an urgent need expressed by AVEGA’s leadership, funded the purchase of critical tools, including a new ultrasound machine, a dental chair, an ENT kit, and a bio-chemistry machine. These pieces of equipment are crucial in improving healthcare accessibility for elderly survivors, particularly those suffering from non-communicable diseases.

Through this collaboration, Ibuka USA is proud to help enhance the healthcare infrastructure available to survivors, ensuring that they receive high-quality medical care. With AVEGA’s clinic now better equipped, survivors can benefit from improved diagnostic capabilities and comprehensive healthcare services.

This effort underscores Ibuka USA’s broader mission: to stand in solidarity with survivors, advocate for their needs, and create lasting impact through strategic partnerships. Our work is about honoring the past while building a better, healthier future for survivors.

Together, we strive to make a difference in the lives of those who endured the unimaginable, ensuring they receive the care and support they deserve
