On September 11, 2024, the “Kwibuka Flame of Hope” was permanently installed at the United Nations Headquarters, a profound tribute to the victims and survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. This monument symbolizes resilience, hope, and the enduring global responsibility to confront hate and prevent future atrocities.
Marcel Mutsindashyaka, President of Ibuka USA, expressed the organization’s deep gratitude for this installation, highlighting its importance in the ongoing fight against genocide denial and the need for global awareness. In his statement, he said:
